The rise of in-store mobile browsing – an infographic

Apr 19, 2011 by

Over the past two weeks I’ve compiled a series of stats about the rise of so-called in-store mobile browsing: the increasing tendency of shoppers to go online via their smartphones while in a a physical retailer.

Fellow Rabbit Alex has now brought the stats to life through this awesome infographic.

If you are a retailer the take out is really very simple:  Your customers are no longer a captive audience while in your premises – if they ever were.   They’ve often got an eye on their Android iPhone and might be broadcasting their experiences.

So what are you doing to integrate online social tools into your bricks and mortar stores, and are you in any position to respond to what’s being said about you?   Unfortunately in the UK at least, the answer is by and large no.
