Global mobile data traffic triples

An addition to that last post on Android phones leapfrogging iPhones in popularity and Gartner’s stats on the global mobile market growing by 13.8% – Ericcson has released stats showing that global mobile traffic has tripled over the past year.

Though data subscriptions only account for 10% of the total, the Swedish handset manufacturer says that data traffic is growing 10x as fast as voice traffic.

Ericsson says that global mobile data traffic stood at nearly 225,000 terabytes per month in Q2 2010.
