Promoted tweets in 140 seconds

There’s been various chatter about the early success of Twitter’s promoted tweets.   Back in May, shortly after they launched, Virgin America claimed its fifth highest sales day in history (source Marketing Vox).

More recently, Coke claimed that its promoted tweets during the World Cup had gained 86 million impressions and an engagement rate of 6% (source PSFK) – compare that to a banner click through rate that can be as low as 0.02%.
