I'm always interested by people who judge media channels as good or bad, helpful or harmful. Eating is good in moderation, but if you do too much you grow obese. Lifting weights is good for muscle tone and bone density, but if you do too much you become a musclehead. And video games, television, computer use, and social media are all similar tools that can expand the mind if used in moderation.

I know people who deride use of social media (why waste time online?) who also spend hours in front of the TV.

A good exercise would be to evaluate each channel for how it can help us grow, and show some discipline to use it as such. I bought my 9-year-old boy, who is fascinated with Legos and buildings, the SimCity video game for Christmas. I'm going to limit his time on the screen -- but I believe it may help his mind grow.
