The universal appeal of sports websites

Comscore has published some stats on the universal popularity of sports websites across various markets, especially in the English speaking domain.

Comscore took five markets – Canada, UK, US, Spain and Brazil – and for the three English speaking countries found that 40%+ of users visited a sports site at least once a month. Indeed for Canada, the stat is 50.2%.

Not surprisingly, males over index compared to females, with 35-44 year olds being the most likely to visit.

Internationally, one-third of Internet users visited sports sites. Good to know on the day that the Internet Advertising Bureau here in the UK released stats showing that online advertising spend had overtaken TV advertising for the first time.
