The mobile Internet marches on - Facebook usage up 300%

by dirkthecow on September 3, 2009

Further to my last post asking whether mobile advertising works (short answer - yes, but offer freebies), comes this chart from Inside Facebook.

According to Facebook’s Director of Mobile, Henri Moissinac, the network now has 65 million mobile users - or 25% of its total reach.

That’s an increase of 300% over the past twelve months. Inside Facebook also quotes COO Sheryl Sandberg in saying that Facebook mobile users are 50% more active than web users.

Well yes - Facebook is one thing that works reasonably well on most smart phones. Unlike say mobile video, the user experience is also good on 3G and even - to a certain extent - EDGE and GPRS.
