News flash: Most conversation on Twitter meaningful and worthwhile
There’s been a fair amount of talk about the study the other day showing that 40% of tweets are “pointless babble.”
The undertone seems to be – see, I told you so, just a bunch of nerds navel gazing and sounding off about their lunch! And indeed, isn’t this just another example of the stats being read in such a way as to support a pre-determined conclusion.
I mean, surely 40% of tweets being pointless babble means that more than half (once we discount spam in the table above) – are valuable! And as Greg Verdino said in a (not pointless) tweet, how is “40% of tweets are pointless” any different from every day conversation?
