Herd core search

Ever since Emma and myself started the Cow blog-off, we’ve added both feedburner and google analytics into our html code to give us a visitor and subscriber count (*casts a nervous eye at the score sheet on the bottom of the page*).

In addition to a unique total, Google Analytics throws up a traffic list broken down by the 41 countries that are sending visitors our way, with the top ones not being a huge surprise – UK (154 recent unique visitors), US (64), Australia (35), Sweden (12), Canada (10) – I am guessing Sweden as we sometimes post about MindArk.

But where it starts to get interesting is when Google gives you the terms people have used to get to the site via its search engine.

In addition to ‘Herd’, ‘Cow PR‘, ‘Social media blog’, ‘football manager live‘, my own name (um….thanks), a few random ones have cropped up in the list.

Some recent gems?

“Herd core porn”, “rude language u tube” (?!), “herd cooking games” and for good measure “Herd core cartoon porn.”

OK I get it…some people might get a little over-excited when doing these kind of searches, but come on now, the A and E aren’t that close together on the keyboard….

Anyway – when I told a friend this, she put the term into Google. And lo and behold, when it comes to good old fashioned “herd” cartoon porn (does it involve naked cows?), we’re up there at number four battling it out with websites such as ‘p*nis bot’ and ‘smut gremlins’!

This is thanks, largely as far as I can tell, due to me once using the words ‘cartoon‘ and ‘porn‘ in (separate) posts about Second Life – I hasten to add they were about education and online dating.

So, now that we know what our readers want, rather than to drone on and on, maybe we should just cut to the chase and put up some gratuitious cartoon nakedness?!

Update: Someone pointed out to me that shortly after I posted this, we moved right to the top of the ‘herdcore cartoon porn’ league table.

Well – I’m a believer that if you are up there, you might as well be in pole position.
